Presidential Award for Extraordinary Efforts to Combat Trafficking in Persons


DESCRIPTION

On a silver metal scalloped edged ellipse, 2inches (5.08 cm) high by 1-3/8 inches (3.49 cm) wide, a gold star of fivepoints with suspension ring measuring 2-3/4 inches (6.99 cm) high by 2-1/2inches (6.35 cm) wide the gold star has an array of thirteen lesser pointsaround a dark blue motto scroll with the words PROHIBITIO PRAESIDIUM PROSECUTIO in silver metal. The centerellipse has incised rays emanating from behind a group of stylized white cloudsin chief with a green laurel wreath arched to base in base, overall an eaglewings displayed with talons breaking the links of a chain all gold.



SYMBOLISM
The five-pointed star represents the recipients dedication to our country and with the thirteen rays symbolizes a morning star, illustrating the everyday fight against human trafficking. The designation band is colored dark blue to symbolize devotion and the inscription translates to PREVENTION, PROTECTION, PROSECUTION. The clouds are taken from the coat of arms of the President of the United States and are indicative of the level of the authority for awarding this decoration. The gold eagle breaks the chain, representing the efforts being made to bring liberty to the oppressed. The laurel wreath is a symbol of strength and courage which honors those who combat trafficking in persons. The liberty bell on the reverse is a symbol of the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.
